At San Diego Comic-Con 2022, Marvel Studios made an appearance and unveiled a number of new projects, including two Avengers movies that would be released back-to-back in 2025. (See the Marvel Phase 5 schedule here.)
The Kang Dynasty, the first of the Avengers movies, is expected to centre on Jonathan Majors’ time-traveling antagonist, who initially debuted in Loki and is expected to make a comeback in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.
The Avengers will reunite just six months later for Secret Wars, which is anticipated to conclude the Multiverse Saga that spans phases four through six of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
At this point, there aren’t many details available about the two-part blockbuster event, but fan conjecture about what all of this might mean for our favourite heroes is already running rampant. Here is all we currently know about Avengers: Secret Wars.
Date of release for Avengers: Secret Wars confirmed
Avengers Secret wars : Marvel Studio announces The Kang Dynasty Release Date
Kevin Feige, the head of Marvel Studios, said at San Diego Comic-Con 2022 that Avengers: Secret Wars will be released in theatres on Friday, November 7, 2025.
The movie will be released barely six months after Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, which will open the summer movie season in 2025 on Friday, May 2, at the current release date.
Avengers: Secret Wars and its predecessor The Kang Dynasty don’t yet had a single cast member confirmed by Marvel Studios, although several characters seem like safe bets.
For instance, if the time-traveling antagonist Kang The Conquerer isn’t eliminated at the conclusion of the first film, Jonathan Majors will almost certainly play him in both movies.
Meanwhile, we anticipate seeing all of the main Avengers characters—including Anthony Mackie’s Captain America, Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel, Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange, and Thor—appear in some form (Chris Hemsworth).
It’s also feasible that these films will mark the first appearances on the big screen of some of Marvel’s recently introduced Disney Plus characters, such as Moon Knight (Oscar Isaac) and She-Hulk (Tatiana Maslany).
We can’t completely rule out the prospect of further appearances from earlier Marvel franchises, including Fox’s X-Men and Sony’s Spider-Man, considering that this movie will serve as the conclusion to what is being referred to as The Multiverse Saga.
How might Avengers: Secret Wars end?
Despite sharing the same title, there have been two significant Secret Wars storylines in the comic books, and they are both quite different.
The first Secret Wars began in 1984, when a cosmic being known as the Beyonder transported the most well-known Marvel heroes and villains to Battleworld and made them fight for his amusement.
The comic event, though economically successful, was criticised at the time for having a thin plot that looked to be intended to sell toys, but it is still a favourite among many fans who were growing up at the time.
Doctor Doom uses the power of the Beyonders to create a new Battleworld that combines every other reality in the Marvel Universe in an effort to stave off total devastation. He naturally instals himself as Emperor as well.
Most Marvel Universe heroes and villains don’t question the bizarre new world they find themselves in because they have no memory of their life prior to Doom’s new order.
Expect both components from the two stories to be incorporated into Avengers: Secret Wars as well as its own unique flair.
Is there a trailer for Avengers: Secret Wars?
